Summer Hosting Essentials for an Elevated Entertaining Experience

With the summer season in full swing, hosting and entertaining have become a major part of my weekends. With kids running around and family coming in and out, I have a few essentials that have made my hosting experience a tad easier and more enjoyable for everyone. Entertaining should be a pleasant experience, and I want to ensure my guests, and myself, are comfortable.

Sharing Boards

Having easy, bite-sized snacks are an easy way to make a little effort go a long way.  Presentation is key, so we love using some multi-wood boards and quartz bowls to hold everything from charcuterie spreads to olives and nuts. We also like to use our boards as decor that rests against the backsplash in the kitchen maximizing functionality and offering easy access. Here are a few of our favorites that will carry you through the hosting seasons to come!

Bar or Beverage Cart

Having a cart or tray stocked with your favorite beverages is a great way to give your guests the independence to serve themselves without the hassle of having to fix drinks for everyone. Stock your cart with all the essentials from an ice bucket and tumblers to garnishes and mixers. We love choosing beautifully made labels that complement the design of the cart and look intentional next to the other pieces around it.

Want to really go to the next level? Pick up some ice molds that really add to the visual experience of your tablescape. Ice from the dispenser is fine for cooling things down in a moment’s notice, but if you want to really stand out, go for a nice spherical or large cubed tray.

Stemware

Beautiful stemware can truly transform a table from average to unforgettable.  The weight and dimension of your stemware control how it feels in your hand and can even make your beverage seemingly taste better. Hosting is all about the experience, and offering your guests the proper glass to drink from is a nice added touch.

Outdoor Throws

Whether you are enjoying a sunset on the coast or enjoying aperitif on your terrace, having a cozy throw blanket, or two, can make your space more inviting and keep your guests comfortable as the evening breeze sets in. From the summer night chills to the fall evenings by the fire, I always find myself reaching for some throws to keep myself and my guests cozy.  We opt to place a basket next to some of your bigger outdoor furniture pieces with some throws handy that complement the surrounding colors.
